discipline.

seven rules.

  1. black ink on newsprint. charcoal + newsprint paper, plus one accent (riso red or riso blue) when you need it.
  2. halftone or grain overlay, 8–18% opacity. mix-blend-mode: multiply. static. the dirt is honest.
  3. typewriter is the workhorse. courier or monospace as base. times new roman as secondary. arial black or impact as shouter for headlines.
  4. at least one element pasted in. rotated 2–6°, slight offset, with a tape strip on it.
  5. ransom-note moments are allowed. mix font / size / weight per word using inline spans. one cluster per page, not throughout.
  6. visible production marks. page numbers, dates, "ISSUE #X", "FREE." stamp, "PRINTED" attribution.
  7. mistakes are good. a misaligned line, a struck-through-and-corrected word, a smudge. don't sand them out.
